About us

Introduction_
Derwent Rural Counselling Service (DRCS) is a charity founded in 1989, offering psychological therapies to the population of Derbyshire.
We are now the biggest provider of counselling in Derbyshire and operate as both a private service and a sub-contractor for Talking Mental Health Derbyshire IAPT service.
As a not-for-profit organisation, we seek to provide ease of access for clients across the whole of Derbyshire within our own premises.
In addition, we aim to deliver accessible therapy options at a time convenient to service users which may mean providing appointments outside normal working hours, and at weekends.
Alongside our supporting TMHD deliver their IAPT service, as a not-for-profit organisation we also receive client referrals via our donation service, helping and supporting those who may reside or work within Derbyshire or neighbouring counties.
Role Overview_
The purpose of this role is to provide counselling to clients of the service while being supported by our clinical team via supervision, mentoring and CPD to submit for BACP (or equivalent) accreditation.
Key Requirements/Purpose of the Role_
As a Counsellor/Therapist the post holder will work as a member of the primary care psychological therapies team providing time-limited interventions within our IAPT contract and also offer counselling and support to clients outside of this contract.
The post holder will work with clients who have a range of mental health problems, including anxiety and depression, for which counselling is demonstrated to be clinically effective.
They will be based in sites across the county of Derbyshire. The post holder will work with people from different backgrounds age 16+ and should be committed to equal opportunities.-
Qualifications_
Accreditable with BACP or equivalent (may not have all the hours needed, but must meet other requirements and have at least 300 supervised counselling hours, ideally 350).
Experience_
The Counsellor must have experience of delivering time-limited interventions as well as be able to demonstrate they have the ability to manage their own caseload.
