The Head of People Performance and Delivery is a key strategic and operational lead for the overall direction and implementation of the People and OD Strategy for the Trust in partnership with the Senior Leadership team team.


With significant experience of operating at a senior management level across multiple operational services, this role will lead and shape the delivery of the People and OD Strategy and be responsible for providing key metrics, improvement plans and operational oversight to the Chief People Officer through to the Executive Team, the People and OD Committee and the Trust Board.

The role will lead and undertake major projects as required to deliver strategic transformation and change programmes. These programmes will include both Trust led initiatives as well as system, regional and national level working.


The role will provide leadership, oversight and performance management to the People programme of work, particularly in relation to recruitment and resourcing; workforce and key metrics; operational delivery and KPI monitoring and delivering business objectives through effective, efficient and innovative working practices.

Supporting the Delivery of the MTW People and Culture Strategy

  • Lead on the delivery of the People and Culture Strategy at MTW specifically in relation to operational performance, KPIs, Innovation and Customer Experience.
  • Have the skills and knowledge to gather and analyse large sets of data to support the design and implementation of both large scale, Trust wide change programmes as well as smaller scale, targeted developmental interventions.
  • Lead and work in partnership with national OD organisations, NHS and Non-NHS to develop the underpinning knowledge through research and evaluation.
  • Influence senior management particularly during complex change, encouraging a relational and peopleorientated approach.
  • Provide leading edge thinking, advice and challenge to senior stakeholders on organisation development issues pertaining to major change programmes
  • Be informed by key theories; action research, systems theory, OD self as instrument; change theories and actively develops supplemental theories to enhance the impact of OD and change management.
  • Support the Trust's commercial intentions by identifying and pursuing opportunities for income generation
  • Role model the Trust's values and behaviours and lead from a position of embodying the change required in the system
Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital Trust in the county of Kent.


The Trust provides a full range of general hospital services and some areas of specialist complex care to around 500,000 people living in the south part of West Kent and the north part of East Sussex.

The Trust's core catchment areas are Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells and their surrounding boroughs.

We work from two main clinical sites:
Maidstone Hospital and Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury.

Tunbridge Wells Hospital opened in 2011 and provides single rooms with en-suites for all in-patients - the first of its kind in the country.
