The Role:


We are looking for experienced, autonomous and motivated
Rehabilitation Officer for the Visually Impaired who wants to make a real difference to the lives of our residents.


The Sensory Team is part of the Older People and Physical Disabilities Services which is a multi-professional service comprising of Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, and Assistant Practitioners.

There are currently two Visual Impairment Rehabilitation Officer vacancies available within the team.


The Sensory Team supports people with Sight Loss, Hearing Loss and Dual Sensory Loss (Deafblind) to meet their social care needs, promote their independence, and help them achieve their goals and outcomes in order to improve their wellbeing.

The team undertakes Sensory Needs assessments/reviews, provide equipment, minor adaptations, lighting assessments, vision rehabilitation e.g.

daily living, mobility indoor and outdoor training and advice as appropriate as part of the task of optimising the safety and independence of the adults.


This role involves managing your own case load, fully utilising multi-agency working to ensure the best outcomes for our residents and keep up to date with new developments and technologies.


About You:


It is essential that you hold a relevant Honours degree or Diploma in Higher Education/Foundation Degree in Rehabilitation Studies (Visual Impairment) or equivalent and being registered with the professional body RWPN.

You will have experience of directly working with adults with sight loss
. You should have a good knowledge of relevant legislation and local authority responsibilities in the safeguarding of vulnerable adults. In addition, good communication, decision-making and time management skills are essential.


While in this role you will need to demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm to working closely with those with care and support needs, their families and carers, other professionals and your managers and peers.
