The Department of Design is part of Manchester School of Art - the 2nd oldest art school in the UK.

The Department played a significant part in the recent REF success in Art and Design which was ranked second in the UK for research power with 100% of its research environment and impact rated as internationally excellent (3*) or world leading (4*).

The department is renowned for its innovative research and its award-winning pedagogy in collaborative design practice Unit X.

The Role


We are seeking an ambitious
Lecturer to contribute to the future curriculum design and delivery of our externally facing collaborative curriculum.

In this role, you will work closely with external stakeholders and colleagues across all Design specialisms to respond to International and Education strategic priorities.

Your focus will be to co-design and develop innovative projects that enable work-integrated and collaborative learning opportunities in support of an outstanding student experience.


An understanding of future Design contexts connected to sustainability, digital innovation, and inclusive agendas is essential, plus excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage complex organisational systems, digital platforms, and events.

A background in a creative discipline is essential, together with industry experience, teaching or current research in Design specialisms /collaborative design practice.


We are looking to appoint an individual who is passionate about education, creative problem-solving, and the transformative power of design.
