The Company


Green Cat Renewables (GCR) is a dynamic, innovative company that provides the complete range of technical services required to deliver renewable energy projects.

The team of over 80 Engineers and Environmental Consultants deliver projects on behalf of Clients from four offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Livingston, and Biggar.

GCR also works closely with its two sister companies Green Cat Hydrogen based in the UK and Green Cat Renewables Canada based in Calgary.

The Technical Services team comprises part of the Technical and Asset Management Department.

Through the Technical Services team the company provides:

feasibility studies; energy yield assessments; due diligence and technical advisor services to banks and other funders; and, technical support to other parts of the business.

Projects are typically based on wind, solar, and hydro, with an increasing regard to grid management, battery storage, and alternative technologies.

The Technical Services team requires an Electrical Engineer with renewable energy experience to join them in Edinburgh.


The Role

The Role will primarily involve the following:

  • Assisting in the production of technical reports.
  • Technically appraising the issues and risks to projects.
  • Processing and analysing data from a variety of sources.
  • Reviewing available project information, including technical drawings (such as SLDs, layout drawings, etc.) and contracts (EPC, BoP, etc.), and challenging the content.
  • Preparing and/or reviewing grid connection documentation, at both Distribution and Transmission level.
  • Performing site visits to inform deskbased technical appraisals.
  • Researching grid management and energy storage opportunities.
  • Researching alternative renewable energy technologies.
  • Scenario modelling and project optimisation.
  • Providing technical support to GCR staff across the company; elements of electrical design may be required.
  • Physical Science or Engineering discipline degree qualification.
  • Electrical engineering demonstrable understanding and experience, at least 2 yrs.
  • Grid connection process at Distribution and/or Transmission level demonstrable understanding and experience, at least 2 yrs.
  • Renewable energy knowledge or project experience of commercial scale projects.
  • A good facility and familiarity with standard software packages including Excel and Word, and the ability to learn new software tools. Familiarity with AutoCAD would also be of benefit.
  • An ability to clearly explain technical concepts and their relevance to a nontechnical audience, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • An enquiring/questioning approach.
  • Willingness to learn about aspects of projects which are currently unfamiliar.
  • Willingness to travel if required.
  • The right to work in UK (GCR does not have a sponsorship programme),
  • Valid Driving Licence for use within UK.

The role would be a permanent and full-time position based out of our Edinburgh office at Stobo House, Roslin.


Pay:
£18,000.00-£110,142.51 per year
