Minimum 5 years' relevant work experience, preferably across a range of project types (any of Build to Rent, workspace, private residential, hospitality, fit-out)

Job Details:
We are a dynamic, innovative commercial interior design studio looking for an enthusiastic and organised individual to join our team as Head of Design, tasked with the control and coordination of the complete design and mobilisation process, across a wide range of projects, including management of a small team.
The role is on a fixed term contract, related to specific projects we have in the pipeline, but has the opportunity to be extended to a permanent position.
We are looking for someone with experience of working in interior design and managing a small team; the role includes the coordination of our interior designers, delegating and overseeing workload, and liaison with the project management team to deliver projects on time, to budget and per design.
Summary of role responsibilities (not all encompassing):
- Coordination of initial client enquiries and distribution/delegation to the design team
- Overseeing internal briefing processes, to ensure all information is downloaded and systems are updated accordingly
- Creation of project budgets and estimates, including working with the Project Manager to obtain and compare trade quotations, and having commercial accountability through accurate scoping and quoting of work to deliver projected revenue stream
- Understanding of financial aspects of running a design project on time and on budget
- Management of interior design team and project delivery team, undertaking periodic 121s, translating company vision into measurable goals and targets and holding team members accountable
- Creating and overseeing the creation of design concept documents, stylescapes, floorplans/layouts, elevations and other visual project representations, ensuring processes are followed and task deadlines are met
- Making important decisions regarding project design based on interior design knowledge and requirements
- Following strict safety procedures when modifying existing interior construction must have detailed understanding and knowledge of relevant construction techniques relating to interior design
- Coordination of interdepartmental communication and internal review process, updating Director(s) at each stage of project progression
- Keeping internal systems, tracking software and document logs up to date and monitoring team contributions
- Attendance at design team and construction progress meetings
- Managing client expectations and maintaining a high level of communication
- Coordination of Project Management team overseeing scheduled trade works on site, inline with project programme
- Implementation of all stages of companywide processes and corporate strategy, including design, delivery, snagging, handover, client review, lessons learned sessions, etc.
- Business development through attendance at events, representation at trade exhibitions and conferences and industry awareness/research

Salary:
£35,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
