This is an exciting opportunity for qualified nurses to train as a Specialist Community Practitioner Health Visitor in Stockport.

Stockport NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit up to 3 qualified nurses to undertake the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing Apprenticeship Health Visiting Pathway on a full time basis.

(See Terms and Conditions) Stockport Health Visiting service is part of the Women Children's and Diagnostics Business Group of Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, and is integrated with Stockport Council as part of Stockport Family and One Stockport Family Hubs.

Stockport Family and Family Hubs work collaboratively across professional disciplines in order to improve outcomes for children and families.


These apprenticeships are an opportunity to join the service at an exciting time as we continue our integration journey within Stockport Family, embedding existing practices and developing new ways of working within our One Stockport Family Hubs agenda.

The Health Visiting Service in Stockport works in geographical footprints with caseloads across the borough utilising an integrated locality model.

We have recently moved to the named Health Visitor Model.

Stockport has well established skill mix teams consisting of Specialist Public Health Nurses (Health Visitors) Staff Nurses, Early Years Workers and Health Visiting Locality Assistants who together deliver the Healthy Child Programme 0-5 along with colleagues in Stockport Family and the wider health care services in primary and secondary care, voluntary/3rd sector agencies.


In addition, you will need to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of issues affecting children and families and how Health Visiting Services work with families to promote health and wellbeing in the community.

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the person specification. (See person specification) The apprenticeship will commence in September 2023 for 13 month period.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trusts policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately.

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £41.90.

This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
