THE JOB


The Production Supervisor's role organises and manages the output of a team of Production Workers with a focus on Health & Safety, quality, departmental efficiency, and reducing waste.

The Production Supervisor mentors and develops the Production Workers to build a successful team that are well trained and flexible.


Production Supervisors are responsible for ensuring that the relevant Health and Safety aspects are adhered to as well as a high standard of housekeeping.


THE PERSON
Whilst this position is for day shift, future opportunities to work on other shifts may be available.


MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • First line supervision of production staff
  • First Aid and Fire Marshall responsibilities
  • Schedule and monitor production output against works order due date specifications
  • Monitor and review employee performance; identify and manage issues with low performance; coach and support employees to optimise performance; address capability issues and nonadherence to company policies and procedures. Submit reports on performance and progress
  • Create and maintain the departmental product skills matrix and coordinate a training programme to increase mobility of labour within the department, so that there is always at least 1 trainer and 3 'can do without supervision' for all products within department
  • Create and maintain a skills training schedule for all employees within the area so that there is a competently trained staff for all products
  • Run perpetual inventory checks on a daily basis, any variances to the perpetual inventory checks must be successfully investigated
  • Ensure that a Good Housekeeping regime is maintained to the agreed standards at the end of every shift
  • Nurture cooperation and communication within production team and other departments
  • Recruit, hire, and maintain the correct level of training for production workers to perform their duties
  • Work closely with the Production Manager and other departments to implement manufacturing cost reduction strategies
  • Ensure employees are trained on how to safely use machinery and follow procedures
  • Enforce strict safety guidelines and company standards
  • Continuously review facility and processes, recommending and implementing improvements, where appropriate, to improve efficiency and reduce costs
