The site is a facility covered by the COMAH (The Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations 2015), which regulates the operation of large chemical plants.


About the role

LANXESS UK is currently seeking 4 motivated and talented individuals for the position of Production Operator.


The primary responsibility of the role of the Production Operator is to operate manual or semi-automatic plant and equipment to carry out batch processes, to convert chemical raw materials into industrial products such as coatings, adhesives and sealants, and to meet product volume sales demand.


Key Responsibilities:


  • To be part of a shift team manufacturing products in chemical reactors.
  • To accurately follow detailed written/ verbal process and safety instructions including use of personal protective equipment.
  • Pick and sample raw materials, weigh material into reactors, monitor instruments and operate equipment/valves to set conditions.
  • Take in process samples, liaise with QC and pack the finished product into the containers.
  • Keep detailed records/ fill in records as required.

About you

  • Previous chemical experience (or similar) preferably from a small batch processing environment advantageous but not essential.
  • Have a safety first approach, and will work in a safe, orderly and clean manner.
  • Able to demonstrate understanding and respect for potential hazardous materials.
  • Happy to work with minimum supervision once fully trained.
  • Confident interpreting and following batch sheet instructions and other written working instructions.
  • Strong written and verbal communications including completion of written logs and other documented reporting.
  • Due to the nature of work there will be a considerable amount of manual handling, must therefore be fit and physically able to carry out activities required of the role.

Shifts:


  • Hours of work are 40 hours per week on an 8 hour, 3 shift rota (06:00am14:00pm, 14:00pm 22:00pm, 22:00pm 06:00am).
  • You will initially work on days for a 2 week basic training induction period. Once completed you will join a shift rotation.
