A fantastic opportunity has arisen in the Ophthalmology Department in Ipswich Hospital for a Band 6 Team Leader, primarily in the operating theatres, but with interest in the Ophthalmology department as a whole.


We can offer excellent opportunities for training and development within the Ophthalmology department, as we believe that this is the key to a successful department for staff and patients alike.


  • As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, responsible for ensuring the provision of high standards of perioperative clinical practice and individualised patient care within a designated theatre team.
  • Provide effective leadership that supports and promotes confidence and development of team members to meet service requirements
  • To provide specialist knowledge and skills in Theatre and Anaesthetic practice and to lead the continuing development of this area through research and clinical effectiveness, initiating and implementing change.
  • Assist in the smooth functioning of the Operating Department through liaison with other Theatres and Recovery rooms, wards and hospital departments, clinic and retinal suite
  • Active in promoting a safe and attractive environment, acting as role model encouraging learning and the development of new ideas.
  • Take responsibility for the management of the theatre teams/department in the absence of the unit/suite manager.
