Description

We are looking for Care Assistants to join our team caring for elderly individual needs within a residential care home setting.

Previous experience is desirable but not essential.

All training, DBS and Uniform are provided.

Immediate start available.


As a Care assistant you will participate in staff induction programmes and further training as and when required to promote safe working practices at the home.


Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure the highest possible levels of person centred care are maintained by supporting/assisting residents with all aspects of daily living
  • Assist residents in all aspects of their care needs (e.g. physical, emotional and spiritual). Provide supervision and support when required to maintain independence, choice, comfort, dignity and respect.
  • Assist in providing end of life and palliative care
  • Complete, observe and review care planning needs and risk assessments
  • Complete daily written reports for each individual resident
  • Assist as required with social functions and events
  • To assist in monitoring and auditing medication
  • To administer medication to the residents and assist in the management of an effective system for the safe control and administration in line with the homes policies and procedures
  • To report on the wellbeing of residents and liaise with medical professionals and document and follow their instructions
  • To be flexible about working hours
  • To be able to cover sickness and holidays sometimes at short notice
  • To undertake responsibility within an area of work as delegated by the management team
  • To be approachable and supportive to staff and managers
  • Understand and observe all relevant regulations and the homes policies and procedures
  • To attend staff meetings when appropriate and to be available for one to one sessions
  • To attend training and development sessions as agreed with the management team both on and off site
  • To maintain confidentiality at all times
  • To carry out any reasonable duties as requested by the management team
  • To be aware of and comply with safe working practices under the Health and Safety at Work Act
  • Be familiar with the administrative records of the home and ensure that all records are up to date
  • To follow appropriate procedures in the event of accidents/ emergencies e.g. missing person/fire etc.
  • To ensure the home is secure at all times when on duty
  • Ensure appropriate and agreed staffing levels are maintained
  • To report, record and advise the relevant person with respect to the repairs and maintenance of the home e.g. faulty appliances, damaged furniture/equipment and general upkeep or any potential hazards
  • Maintain professional knowledge and competence
  • Report immediately to the management team, or person in charge, any illness of an infectious nature or accident occurred by a resident, colleague, self or another
  • Contribute to the safeguarding of adults by ensuring you are aware of your role in relation to the homes safeguarding policy, take steps to protect residents from any form of abuse or neglect and use the appropriate reporting systems by following the homes policy and procedures
  • Adhering to all new, and changes in CIW and CCFW initiatives as and when they are implemented
  • Promote and ensure the good reputation of the home
  • Ensure all information of confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties
  • Adhere to company policies and procedure within the defined time scales

Salary:
£11.00 per hour

No less than 39 per week
