About Buckets & Spades:


Buckets & Spades Nursery first opened in 2004; we have 99 places available in our setting for babies and children up to the age of 5 years old.

We are a friendly, close-knit team, looking for someone to join us in the exciting and challenging role of Nursery Apprentice.

Upon completion, this could lead to a permanent position at Buckets & Spades as a fully-qualified practitioner


Job Description:


Your role will have a blend of practical work and studying, learning to care our children and encourage them to develop and grow You will learn about the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and how to support children throughout your training, and be a fully qualified practitioner at the end of your apprenticeship.


  • 30 hours per week,
  • Time to study at work,
  • Starting at £5.28 per hour,
  • Full Paediatric First Aid Training Course provided,
  • Support from our team and your training provider at every step

Day-to-day tasks will include:

  • Supervising children throughout the day, during play times, meals and adultled activities,
  • Working with our team to plan activities to support children's development,
  • Creating a warm and welcoming environment,
  • Following high standards of hygiene
  • Learning on the job,
  • Working alongside parents and carers,
  • Follow and maintain safeguarding policies and procedures,
  • Developing a strong understanding of the EYFS.


As this is an apprenticeship, our team and your tutor will be there to support you at every stage of your course.

You will be expected to meet deadlines set by your tutor, and support to do this will be provided by our team.


Requirements:


  • A friendly, cando attitude,
  • Strong communication skills,
  • GCSE English & Maths A-C/94 or equivalent (preferred)
  • A desire to work in Early Years,
  • Strong initiative


Please note that to become an apprentice you must be 16 years or over, and not be in full time education.


Please note that two references and an Enhanced DBS check are required for this position.
