Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking a passionate Lecturer in Counselling & Psychotherapy.

We are on the lookout for a skilled psychodynamic or psychoanalytic practitioner to design CPD courses for professionals in helping roles. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned psychodynamic counsellor or psychotherapist (or psychoanalytic psychotherapist) with significant post-qualification experience, including in a public environment.

  • You must possess a deep understanding and hands-on experience of various teaching methods and strategies suitable for counselling and psychotherapy, specifically focusing on both experiential and critical teaching approaches.
  • Experience in curriculum planning, course development, remote teaching of counselling and psychotherapy, and conducting clinical work remotely are essential.

To excel as a Lecturer in Counselling & Psychotherapy, you should have an extensive knowledge of counselling and its applications in fields like healthcare and education. Collaborating closely with the Director of Counselling, you will pioneer a fresh batch of CPD courses and contribute to the oversight of recruitment, admissions, and assessments at the Birkbeck Centre for Counselling.

Remuneration:

£33,892 to £38,739 pro-rata (0.8 FTE) annually (£42,365 to £48,424 annually FTE). Grade 7 on the College's London Pay Scale.

The salary mentioned is as per the College's London Pay Scale, inclusive of a consolidated Weighting/Allowance allocated to staff working in London.
