an experienced Warehouse Operative/Forklift Driver to support the late shift of hrs, based in Oakham, Rutland LE15 6RF.

This is a great opportunity for someone with previous material handling/forklift driving experience, who will further enhance their existing experience working closely with the warehouse team and production teams, to ensure effective/efficient storage and despatch of parts/products to production line/customers on time.


Overall Job Purpose
You will support the teams in carrying out material handler duties across both goods in/production line and despatch processes.

Additionally, you will support in identifying improvements to ensure efficient and robust warehouse systems are in place to support the business needs.

You will provide cross-functional support/cover as and when required across all warehouse operation functions as and when workload demands.


Key Accountabilities/Role & Main Responsibilities

Duties Include:


  • Handling and delivery of components/parts to production assembly lines
  • Physical preparation and packing of customer orders,
  • Stock Maintenance assistance
  • Loading/unloading lorries,
  • Highlighting issues/risks with warehouse/forklift systems/processes and propose remedial action/resolutions for discussion/agreement.
  • Support in Despatch processes
  • Correct/Safe storage of machines and goods, ensuring Safe Working Loads (SWL) are not exceeded
  • Stock Location/Identification and Storage Management


The above list of duties are not exhaustive, therefore you may be asked to perform other reasonable duties as and when required to ensure sufficient running of the factory/business.

Communication

  • Accurately record work activities
  • Communicating with all relevant people/departments and coordinating all relevant inputs (people and processes) to ensure service delivery output and on time delivery targets are achieved
  • Interaction with other team members and managers of different areas of the organisation

Quality Assurance & Control:


  • Effective Quality Assurance/Control of Product prior to release
  • Reporting & Identifying Quality Issues to the Senior Warehouse Operative.

Health, Safety and Environment:


  • Ensure and maintain compliance to the regulatory and statutory requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 & Environmental Act, including but not limited to; codes of practice, local policies and procedures, and any other directive in the interest of safety in the workplace.
  • Ensure full compliance with operating regulations when using forklift trucks etc.
  • Husbandry maintain a clean and hazard free working environment
  • Promote and monitor health and safety compliance in the workplace.
  • Fire Safety ensure the workplace is safe from harm caused by fire and do nothing that will place anyone at risk.

Essential Skills and Experience for Overall Role:

  • Good experience of stock control dispatch processes
-
current or recently expired licence demonstrating competence to use Counterbalance and/or Reach truck. Copy of certificates/licence will be required as evidence.

  • Experience of SAP system desirable
  • Understanding of inventory performance KPIs
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • A problem solver and team player, also able to use initiative
  • Good computer skills and proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Good work ethic
  • Excels at operating at a fast pace
  • Flexible, able to work additional hours as and when required which may require occasional weekends
  • Open to direction and collaborative work style and commitment to get the job done
  • High comfort level working in a diverse environment

Remuneration and Benefits:

- winter fuel support allowance (October to March) - discretionary

  • 6 month probation period
  • 20 days holiday plus 8 public holidays (increasing 1 day per year of service to max of 25 days)
  • 4 x salary Death in service benefit (eligible after 3 months service)
  • 5% employer contribution to personal pension scheme (eligible after 3 months service)
  • EAP (employee assistance programme)

Hours of Work:

40 hours per week, 8 hour day (2 x 15 min breaks unpaid). Main shift hrs but flexibility required as and when business needs dictate
