We are looking for a qualified, warm and caring individual to join our team at North Street Nursery, providing 1:1 support for our children with Special Educational Needs.

North Street Nursery has a capacity for 90 children and an unique outdoor terrace garden, with an in house training provider to add to your Childcare Qualifications, on top of a significant Salary and Benefits Package.

With two busy nurseries in South Bristol, we are also offering great opportunities for career progression.

Enhanced DBS check will be carried out and previous references must be provided.


Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the 1:1 care of individual children, to support their individual educational plan (IEP) and to liaise with the Room manager and SENDCo on a daily basis
  • Supporting the nursery SENDCo, writing and updating the IEP and liaising with the relevant agencies when needed.
  • Keep the rest of the team informed on any relevant updates with regards to continual progress of children on a 1:1 support programme
  • Work closely with external professionals or agencies involved with the family support of the child you are providing 1:1 care for
  • To develop and maintain positive relationships with children and families.
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of a wide range of activities to meet children's needs.
  • To work within the EYFS and promote high standards of care for the children.
  • To assume responsibility for key children and ensure their developmental needs are met, accurately recorded and learning diaries are up to date.
  • To help maintain a childcentered environment.
  • To use observation and reflective practice to contribute to planning and evaluation in the setting.
  • To maintain children's safety and well being at all times during attendance at the play setting and on trips to external facilities.
  • To ensure good communication with staff, parent's and carers.

Requirements:

This individual will have passion and enthusiasm for safeguarding children and delivering high standards of care.

  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  • At least 1 years experience in a childcare setting.
  • Experience working with children who have special educational needs.
  • A great understanding of the EYFS.
  • A passion and enthusiasm for childcare.
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills, written and verbal.
  • Good timekeeping, organisation and reliability.
