Overview:

The school is seeking to appoint and enthusiastic and caring Teaching Assistant. The role will be for a minimum of 29 hours a week and will also include lunch duties. The role is varied and will involve working in a one-to-one situation and in small groups.

About the role:

To provide support to teachers in the management of pupils' learning.

1 a) DUTIES

  • Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the head teacher, SENCO and class teachers
  • Attend to pupils' personal needs, including social, health, hygiene, firstaid and welfare matters
  • Prepare classrooms and clear afterwards and assist with the display of pupils' work
  • Provide clerical/admin support, e.g. photocopying, typing, filing, collecting money, record keeping
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of learning activities
  • Accompany teachers and pupils on outofschool activities and take responsibility for a group, under the direction of a teacher
  • Undertake playground duties

1 c) HEALTH AND SAFETY


Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection; and report all concerns to an appropriate person.

1 d) ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The jobholder is required to contribute to and support the overall aims and ethos of the school.


All staff are required to participate in training and other learning activities, and in performance management and development, as required by the school's policies and practice.

Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance.

Different emphases may be given to different aspects according to the requirements of the school and, in particular, the age of the pupils.
