Espace are a very successful Freight Forwarding company and is the only Employee Owned freight / logistics company in the U.K.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a driven and excited team and help us to develop our growing UK Freight offering.

This role will ideally suit someone with some UK freight / freight forwarding background, but not essential.

A little bit about the company...

we are not a vehicle filler, but a vehicle finder We act as a 'middle man' between customers and hauliers, providing a top level customer service.

We specialise in general forwarding by road to UK and all Western and Eastern Europe, Scandinavia and worldwide destinations by air and sea.

Main Purpose

To provide additional operational assistance to our UK Freight team, allowing further development of Espace's UK freight offering with existing and new customers.

Responsible for supporting the delivery of operational activities within the UK team which ultimately contributes to achievement of the company vision and overall business objectives, reaching targets/KPIs set year on year.

Consistently perform to high quality standards.

Overall Responsibility and targets
Your main responsibility will be the completion of important daily operation tasks predominantly for UK express freight.

Operations_

Inputting UK express shipments as well as UK pallets, part loads and full loads on our system. Progression will mean you developing your skills to perform the quoting and covering of loads more direct customer contact.
Obtain prices for UK work for prospects of other Sales Executives
Use of courier exchange (CX) and pallet network software (Advantageous to know HX exchange)
Close monitoring of UK same day shipments. Problem solving, high levels of customer service, confirming collections, deliveries and transit updates for timecritical shipments.
Ensure effective use of Content Management System (Active Campaign)
Logging quotes and proactively chasing them to convert to shipments.

Service Development_

Helping to create a UK Supplier section for our Ebible, vans up to artics, perhaps by postcode
Help to source new hauliers and form new partnerships.

Sales_

When time permits, making calls to our existing customers to see if they have a UK freight requirement but also cross sell for other depts (European Standard, European Express, Sea and Air).

Skills, Interests & Personal Attributes

You will need:

Warehouse and UK container haulage knowledge
Knowledge of various modes: pallet / groupage / part and full / pallet networks
Spark Hunger
A passion for freight and excellent customer service
Excellent communication and listening skills
To enjoy working with customers, therefore great with people, relatable, humorous, charisma, ability to quickly develop relationships, therefore being memorable
Flexibility and quick thinking.

Advantageous:

Knowledge about all the company's products and services. Good overall knowledge of freight industry and markets. Relate to clients about market activity.
Wellversed in using UK Distribution freight exchanges.

Working for an Employee-Owned business requires its co-owners to be team players.

Strong communication and organisational skills will be needed as will an ability to prioritise and manage high workloads at times.

Attention to detail is a must as is the requirement to deliver excellent customer service.
