Occasional evening and weekend work may be required A Culture, Heritage and Tourism Officer is required to support the delivery of a culture, tourism and heritage service that delivers against the priorities and outcomes of the council. Administering the award and procurement, monitoring and evaluation processes for the service in line with council procedures. To develop relationships with the Royal Greenwich cultural sector to help support organisations and individuals to contribute to a thriving culture, tourism and heritage scene within the borough.


Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the daytoday delivery and procedures of a culture, tourism and heritage service.
  • As directed by the Deputy Culture, Heritage and Tourism Manager, contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive range of innovative cultural, tourism and heritage programmes, projects and events, small and large scale, and assist in the development of initiatives to deliver the council's priorities.
  • Contribute to policy development across culture, tourism and heritage through consultation, stakeholder engagement, analysing need and implementation and review.
  • Administer the commissioning cycle for culture, tourism and heritage to deliver services that meet the outcomes and priorities of the council.
  • Manage the culture mailing list ensuring that it is GDPR compliant and that relevant organisations are signed up to it.
  • Maintain and develop partnerships with cultural and creative organisations that support the development of a vibrant cultural and creative sector.
  • Coordinate the assessment, monitoring and evaluations of the council's cultural, tourism and heritage activities against corporate and departmental performance indicators and communicate the results as appropriate.
  • Work with the Council's communications team to promote Royal Greenwich's cultural, tourism and heritage offer to both residents and visitors.
  • Represent the council at a range of meetings and events with members of the public, internal and external partners and stakeholders, acting as an ambassador for the service, ensuring that policies, priorities, principles and standards are communicated effectively.
  • Produce reports and briefings for the Deputy Culture, Heritage and Tourism Manager and other senior management when required, offering advice and guidance in the development and review of policy relating to arts and culture.
  • Undertake occasional evening and weekend work.

"Role Requirements" - to give yourself the maximum chance of success please try and ensure your CV addresses the following essential criteria:

  • Minimum of 12 months
    recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively to a wide range of people.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships within the cultural sector.
  • Able to work evenings and weekends on occasions.
  • Strong IT skills using Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
