OBM have an excellent contract opportunity for an Drilling & Completions Technical Assistant on behalf of our oil and gas operator client in Aberdeen.

Initial 12 month contract position with the potential for long term extension.


Job Purpose:


This position is designed to assist the Drilling & Completion (D&C) department engineering and operational teams by providing support through development and maintenance of various databases (including WellView, Livelink, CASMAX / SAWMAX), data analysis and reporting.

The role will also involve facilitation of periodic and annual reports for submission internal and to external stakeholders.


Key Duties:


  • WellView reporting database support and maintenance (with on and offshore).
  • Drilling and completion data management.
  • Performance tracking.
  • Performance data preparation and coordination for periodic and annual reports.
  • Support to the engineering team in preparation of well related material (lessons learned, well montages and end of well reporting).
  • Facilitate drilling and completions personnel Competence Management System (CASMAX & SAWMAX) as administrator.
  • Well Data & Well File Management and QC

Specific Activities:
WellView (drilling and well information database).

  • General system maintenance. This will require liaison with programme manager and inhouse IT specialists.
  • Organising WellView and computer system installation for offshore installation onto drilling rigs prior to operations.
  • Well data setup Wellview prior to operations commencing.
  • WellView Point contact for onshore and offshore personnel drilling, completion and intervention operations.
  • QA / QC of well data entry.
  • Responsible for automated report creation and distribution.
  • Tracking and facilitation of WellView training for new starts prior to going offshore or starting in the office.
  • Assistance with WellView reporting (i.e. lessons learned, end of well reports, internal reporting).

Data Management:


  • Maintenance of well planning and operational data saved within department Livelink database (in multiple formats including Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Assist in management of departmental well files Performance Tracking.
  • Maintenance of well, operational and rig related performance data within WellView and Livelink.
  • Assist in the extraction of data for benchmarking and activity analysis Reporting.
  • Completion of weekly HSE report (to NSTA regulator and internal).
  • Facilitation of well related data for annual reporting to the regulator (NSTA).
  • Facilitation of well related data for periodic internal reporting.
  • Liaise with other groups within the company to maintain documentation and archiving requirements.

Engineering Team Support:


  • Assist in preparation of well montages and well programme material.
  • Assist in compilation of end of well reporting material and documentation. Liaison with third parties to ensure document submission and review.
  • Participate in the development, review, improvement and implementation of business processes and workflows.

Competence Management System & Wellview Training:

  • Conduct WellView training / refresher training for on and offshore personnel.
  • Facilitation of CASMAX & SAWMAX competency assessments for offshore personnel.
  • Tracking offshore personnel training on WellView & SAWMAX.

Qualifications / Training:


  • WellView training.
  • Qualifications and training relating to Data analysis.

Skills & Experience:


  • Experience of the WellView reporting database software (or equivalent).
  • Experience working in a similar role within Oil & Gas.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft software
  • Word, Excel, Power Point.
  • Good communication skills and enjoy working in a Team environment.
  • Basic Understanding of drilling terminologies for operations and equipment.
  • Experience of data analysis and database management.
  • Livelink experience or a similar shared structured file system useful.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and the ability to learn new processes.
  • For the right individual, this could be a developmental position leading to increased responsibility within the drilling and completions team.
