About the role:

We are looking for a Casualty Portfolio Underwriter to join our Gloucester based team.


Key responsibilities
***:

  • Support the profitable development of the Account and delivery of the UK General Insurance Plan
  • Support the team in portfolio analysis tasks to aid the understanding of Account performance
  • Proactively identify areas of opportunity and issue in relation to technical underwriting matters
  • Working towards acting as a technical referral point for the Line of Business
  • Develop updated underwriting risk appetite material, underwriting guides, pricing, wordings and other technical literature as required for the Line of Business
  • Support the development of training material for the GI Academy, working with the Underwriting Performance Team
  • Support the delivery of work items relating to pricing reviews as required
  • Support UKGI business units in developing and enhancing relationships with brokers, customers and business partners to act as a specialist, demonstrating Ecclesiastical's Line of Business knowledge and expertise
  • Support the delivery of work items required to assist reserving practices and financial reporting for the account
  • Help to ensure underwriting quality is in line with underwriting strategy by highlighting areas of concern, working with the Underwriting Performance Team
  • Support defined pieces of work end to end within agreed timescales
  • Managing and prioritising own workload effectively
  • Keep up to date with market conditions, practice and legislation
  • Understand and operate within regulatory framework and identify and escalate any risks to the business

Knowledge, skills and experience
***:

  • Proven technical underwriting knowledge within commercial insurance
  • Minimum CII with commitment to advance (company support provided)
  • Practical experience of the ability to quickly implement new initiatives
  • Microsoft Excel proficient
  • Some experience in portfolio management desirable, but not essential
