About the Role

At our Ely site we are looking to recruit a Senior Operator in our Assembly Department. You will lead your team in a fast-paced environment reporting to the Shift Manufacturing Manager.

Your role will be key to ensure that all our products are assembled in line with the Company specifications for our clients.


As a Senior Operator you will lead and coach your team ensuring they deliver the required jobs in the given timescales.

You will be expected to challenge the team and support with the training and development of your team to maximise output.


Health and safety is a very important aspect within our business and you will be accountable for your own and others health and safety whilst at work, operating within the DS Smith safe systems of work guidelines.


Within your role as a Senior Operator you are key to ensuring that productivity is exceptional from the team and through your leadership the quality of the work leads to mínimal errors and we satisfy our clients by working within tight deadlines.

You need to ensure that the maintenance and cleaning tasks on the machines are planned to ensure maximum output. You will be required to manage your team to deploy them to other tasks during any quiet periods.

The role requires you to work with a variety of different teams and personnel in your area of production.

About you

  • Experience working as a Team Leader or Supervisor, managing and coaching team members.
  • Experience of working with and operating industrial machinery
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of good health and safety practices
  • Proven experience of working towards KPI's and deadlines within a fastpaced environment
  • Effective communication skills; both written and verbally
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to make informed decisions
  • Confident in communicating at all levels
