Our Manufacturing client based in Sunderland have an exciting opportunity to join their finance team as an Assistant Accountant. They are looking for someone to join them on an initial 6-month contract.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in an organisation looking to develop internal processes and reports. The role is 39 hours per week with a salary of £35,000 to £40,000 (depending upon experience).

As well as the salary, there are lots more benefits to working in this organisation, including:

  • Pension employee contributions 4.5% (with no max as long as NMW is not affected) and employer contributions of 4.5% max

Your key duties will include:


  • Reconciliation of high volume transactions
  • Fixed assets analysis and reporting
  • Management accounts preparation
  • P&L analysis (sales, materials, labour and overheads)
  • Develop reports to understand profitability by project
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Support import / export customs requirements
  • Sales invoice selfbill processing
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

What you need:


  • Excellent numeracy skills
  • Part or fully qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA)
  • Ability to reconcile complex accounts
  • Confident with Excel and Word and quick to learn other systems will need to have the ability to navigate around accounting systems
  • Ability to develop good customer/colleague relationships, both internally and externally at all levels
