Technical Resources Officer


An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone to join the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition (SMMSN) to oversee the day to day management of the Suttie Centre for Teaching and Learning in Healthcare.

You will be located in the Suttie Centre on the Foresterhill Health Campus and, as part of the Institute of Education in Healthcare Medical Science, you will work with various teams across both the University of Aberdeen (UoA) and NHS Grampian (NHSG).

The purpose of the role is the operational management of the Centre to ensure, on behalf of joint occupants UoA and NHSG, the smooth running of all activities, efficient use of all facilities, customer satisfaction of internal occupants and external users including a large body of students.

There is line management responsibility for technical and reception staff.


We are seeking an organised and calm individual who is educated to degree level or has a significant level of experience working in a busy environment where several tasks are required to be juggled at once.

You will ideally have experience of working in a University or the NHS and have experience of building, facility and/or people management.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills, be confident when interacting with staff at all levels and a proactive, collaborative, approach and flexibility are vital.

It is also important that you have good persuading and negotiating skills which will be necessary when working with those you do not line manage to effect change in a positive way that is acceptable to all.

It is essential that you enjoy working with others but are also self-motivated and have excellent communication and skills.

As a team we value experience and will work to make best use of individual team members skills whilst also ensuring we provide development opportunities.


Salary will be at the appropriate point on Grade 6, £36,333 - £43,155 per annum with placement according to qualifications and experience.
