The Role
The Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Education Assistant to work in the Professional Services team within School School of Computing.
You will provide administrative support to ensure the smooth and effective running of the school undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes.
We are looking for an individual with strong interpersonal skills, which will help you relate to our students, academic colleagues, and senior stakeholders.
You should also be adept in organising, prioritising and managing your time effectively to ensure the smooth delivery of education administration.
You should have a keen eye for detail and look to identify and implement improvements wherever possible.Working with a variety of stakeholders, you will demonstrate initiative, efficiency, attention to detail and a willingness to be flexible to support the wider team.
We are committed to building and maintaining a fair and inclusive working environment. The post is a full-time, open-ended (permanent) contract (37 per week) start immediately.Key Accountabilities
- Guide and support students and academic colleagues with standard queries and general requests in an efficient and timely manner, referring onwards where appropriate
- Work alongside the Education Team to check and update student data using University systems
- Provide and update documentation and data collection for Education processes which could include updating modules, regulations, and timetabling activities
- Provide support for School events such as student induction, student social events and University and School visit days
- To act as secretary to designated meetings and committees including agenda preparation and circulation, producing bullet point actions and monitoring progress of actions
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Ability to manage time effectively
- Effective planning and organisational skills with ability to solve problems
- Good IT skills with experience of Microsoft suite of programmes
- Flexible attitude to work demands and customers with a commitment to excellent customer service
- Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team
- An excellent communicator both verbally and in writing with the ability to tailor messages to the appropriate audiences
- Takes responsibility for meeting own targets
- A positive, proactive and professional customer focussed attitude
- Works in a planned and structured way
- Uses own and others time effectively
- Ensures that all activities are completed on time

Qualifications:
- Maths and English at GCSE Level 4 or equivalent
- Relevant work experience in an administrative or customer service setting
