Working Catering Supervisors to support the current structure, Within the Gallery Restaurant and Shop/Café Onsite At North Manchester General Hospital, l - The catering Department is going through a restrictor, So we're looking for flexible catering staff.

Responsible for maintaining a continuous and consistent service to meet the needs of the Hospital/Units throughout the Facilities Department.

Organise rotas to ensure appropriate staff cover is provided to areas requiring Facilities tasks to be undertaken.

Assume responsibility for the supervision and daily allocation of staff to provide a Facilities function in locality sites

Take responsibility for food, consumables and linen stock levels on site ensuring an adequate supply is available.


Responsible for planning and leading the deep clean programme for inpatient ward areas and sites with NHS operating theatres to ensure compliance with Infection Control and Estates guidance.

Prioritise the workload and provide a proactive service to the locality to ensure high standards are met.


Provide training to staff in all areas of Facilities takes, manage performance and ensure staff are released to attend or take part in mandatory training.

Support the Management team in staff development, performance reviews and attendance management.

Proactively support the monitoring of standards across all areas off responsibility.


The Post holder will be responsible for the service of meals to patients, staff and visitors throughout the site as well as any associated duties.

You will have responsibility for the correct and economical use of materials and equipment and will ensure that standards are maintained through constant monitoring and recording.

You will provide cover for the Catering Manager and assist in the supervision, organization and take an active part in the leadership of staff.

You will ensure that the highest standards of health and safety, food safety and quality are achieved.

The post holder will be able to work without supervision at the stated place of work but may be asked to work at any of the Trust's sites.


Facilities Services are provided by in house teams in the majority of sites and are out sourced at only a few outlying units.


Trust authorising approval rights for orders via compliant procurement routes at an agreed level in accordance with the Trust Standing Financial Instructions.

Support the Facilities Manager in the management staff.

The qualification, training & experience requirements for the role are underlined in the Job Description/Person Specification.# The day-to-day organisation of the catering assistants, including the supervision,
direction and control of service staff in all areas.

  • Checking of all food and beverages served for quality, quantity and appearance and the recording and reporting of any discrepancies.
  • Liaising with the catering managers in relation to the supply of food, quantity, quality and menu choice.
  • Respond to 'out of mealtime' requests for patient meals.
  • To reorganise menu at short notice due to supplier, production or delivery failure.
  • Ensuring that the temperature probing of meals and the recording of temperatures are completed in accordance with department policies, ensuring that all HACCP critical control points are checked thoroughly and recorded.
  • Ensure that all food, temperature and quality control sheets are recorded and stored correctly.
