Leeds City Council are looking for some Temporary Administration Assistants to work in our payroll and HR administration teams

Look no further Leeds City Council is seeking a number of enthusiastic individuals to join our vibrant Employment Services team until July 2025 as we implement new payroll, HR and recruitment systems.


The Role:

As a Payroll/HR Administration Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and accurate processing of payroll for our dedicated employees and customers


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in processing payroll data accurately and efficiently.
  • Verifying timekeeping records and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Collaborating with team members to maintain payroll operations.
  • Providing support in payrollrelated inquiries and issues.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of payroll processes.

Requirements:


  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fastpaced environment.
  • Basic understanding of payroll principles (training will be provided).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software.

Job Purpose:

Shared Services consists of over 1,000 employees in the Business Support Centre and Business Administration Service. Both of these services provide administration support activities to a wide range of teams and services across the council.


We help the council to streamline operations by redesigning processes, reviewing models of delivery to enable better sharing of resources and exploiting existing or introducing new technology to modernise the way we work.


Our staff use a range of computer programmes and systems to support services which include those working with teams based across the council in a number of different administration roles.


This role is working in the Employment Services team which is responsible for payroll and HR administration processes for over 40,000 employee records.

This includes activity relating to all aspects of employment, ranging from recruitment processes, changes to terms and conditions, additional payments, attendance, health and safety, training and leaver processing.

You will responsible for delivering key administration duties within demanding deadlines with a customer focused approach.


Responsibilities for Grade:


  • Working with high levels of accuracy for tasks such as checking documents and recording numerical and alphabetical information.
  • Identify problems and areas for improvement and offer solutions.
  • Supporting staff and develop new team members.
  • Use own initiative and judgement where appropriate, providing outcomes and solutions for customers from a range of options.
  • Work on your own, manage your own workload and use your initiative to adhere to time scales and deadlines.
  • Ability and experience to carry out admin
