The Opportunity


We are looking for a Senior Occupational Health Advisor to join the Occupational Health & Wellbeing (OH&W) Team at MBDA.

The OH&W are committed to protecting the health and wellbeing of MBDA employees by providing a comprehensive occupational health service.

Working as part of a multi
- disciplinary team, the post holder will contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of an effective, efficient and high quality OH service, providing specialist knowledge and expertise in response to the growing needs ofMBDA business.


They will ensure that service delivery is in line with best practice, compliant with internal procedures and meeting all legislative requirements.


The role will involve onsite work in Stevenage on a weekly basis with some flexibility to work regularly from home.

There is a requirement to travel to other MBDA sites to ensure consistency of service.

This clinical role requires delivery of a full OH remit:

  • Undertaking case management, health screening, travel health, health surveillance
  • Building and developing strong working relationships with key stakeholders, giving expert health advice within the understanding of specific business needs and challenges
  • Being an integral part of an OH UK wide team, attending meetings and working collaboratively with our HR and Safety colleagues including by delivering presentations and reports
  • Supporting with the Health & Wellbeing Strategy to the business with campaigns and initiatives

Management and Leadership

  • Provide professional leadership, advice, support and guidance to the occupational health advisors and wider multidisciplinary team, key stake holders and employees.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring support to assist the development of junior staff within the team, identifying learning opportunities (both internal and external) in conjunction with the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Providing specialist OH input, to support the development and delivery of wellbeing initiatives and line manager training activities
  • Lead on projects to drive service delivery improvements
  • Act as a point of contact for other members of the multidisciplinary team in relation to challenging, complex or sensitive issues and support and escalate as required

What are we looking for?
An autonomous, proactive and motivated practitioner, who is able to manage their own workload and act independently whilst undertaking their clinical role


You should be:

  • NMC RN part 1, RN part
  • SCPHN (OH) registered
  • Experienced in Occupational Health pre placement assessments, health surveillance, case management, lifestyle screening, Travel Health, triage and responding to queries.
  • Able to work collaboratively within a team framework within OH team but also the wider business
  • To succeed in the role, you need the ability to multi task, deliver good case management reports, health surveillance activities, prioritise and manage your time effectively.
  • Good written and oral interpersonal and communication skills is essential
  • You need to be able to travel to other sites in the UK to see colleagues and for team meetings where required
