Askham Bryan College is a specialist land-based college based across the North of England with centres in York, Middlesbrough, Saltaire, Wakefield and Newcastle.


We offer a wide-ranging curriculum to our Further Education students, including Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Management, Countryside and the Environment, Engineering, Equine, Floristry, Motorsport, Outdoor Adventure Sport, Sports Development, Coaching and Fitness, Uniformed Public Services and Veterinary Nursing.

You will make use of the College's systems to report and interpret data ensuring potential applicants are fully supported and informed.

You'll also contribute to marketing and promotion of the College across a wide spectrum of events, networks and stakeholders.

Alongside our further education provision, our thriving University Centre delivers from Foundation Degrees through to Masters level.

We offer a wide-ranging curriculum to our higher education students, including Agriculture, Animal Science, Wildlife and Environmental Conservation, Equine Science and Veterinary Nursing.


This role is 14.8 hours per week, sometimes 'out of hours', and although based in York will cover all of our campuses.


Educated to degree level or above, you will have experience of working with a wide range of people with different social backgrounds and ethnicity, with different abilities and ages.

You will have experience of public speaking / presenting and working within a team.

Main Purpose of the role:


  • The development and delivery of an innovative programme of Higher Education student recruitment activity to maximise recruitment opportunities with target markets, working with target feeder schools/colleges, including a focus on widening access for students from underrepresented backgrounds.
  • Working with an innovative and energetic recruitment team that develops and maintains a network of key influencers/stakeholders, both internal and external to the College and University Centre.
  • To embed evaluation and monitoring into all activities in order to ensure the team proactively approaches target schools/colleges with tailored activity for best effect.
  • To ensure that all members of the Student Recruitment and Enquiries team maintain up to date knowledge of the University Centre offer.
  • To oversee communication and engagement with school, college and other stakeholders for HE recruitment for all relevant college campuses.
  • To ensure local delivery of marketing, event and internal communications support across all sites.
  • To contribute to the development of marketing campaigns for careers' leads/influencers and relevant schoolbased curriculum links in conjunction with the Student Recruitment and Applications Manager and the Marketing and Development Manager and the University Centre.
  • To coordinate the University Centre open events both in person and digitally, communicating clear event plans and feedback to curriculum, support and senior leadership teams.
  • To support the management of the Student Ambassador Scheme, assisting with recruitment, training and supervising the team of Student Ambassadors across the York campus, with particular focus on HE Student Ambassadors.

Key Tasks/Responsibilities:

All tasks to be carried out in a consistent manner with the corporation's culture.

Working with the Student Recruitment and Applications Manager and Curriculum Area Managers for HE provision to;

  • Work closely with Curriculum Area Managers for HE provision to deliver activities which drive positive levels of internal progression to UCAB courses from across the college.
  • Maintain and extend a network of contact with key influencers, including schools, colleges, and careers' leads/referral agencies, to further higher education recruitment and enhance widening participation opportunities and activities.
  • To contribute to the development of marketing campaigns for Higher Education in conjunction with the Student Recruitment and Applications Manager and the Marketing and Development Manager to support achievement annual student recruitment targets and APP targets.
  • Support the development and delivery of a programme of tailored activities aimed at improving student recruitment opportunities.
