The starting salary for this 12-month, fixed-term position is £31 262 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week.

The Team


As a Family Support Worker with the Assessment service you will be assigned to one of the three teams but will work across the whole service.

Assessment teams are a fast-paced environment as we respond to referrals as they come in - you'll need to be able to think on your feet to help provide solutions on a day to day basis to ensure that Surrey families are fully supported.


Your Role


As a Family Support Worker in our service you will work alongside social workers completing a range of different tasks such as, responding to families in crisis, completing direct work with children and their families, parenting work, completing task centred work with families to address identified needs.

You will also be required to provide practical support for social workers to complement their efforts in discharging their statutory duties.


Shortlisting Criteria

  • Achievement of Vocational Qualifications Level 3/4, or equivalent in relevant fields, with experience of working with children and their families
  • Some understanding of relevant legislation affecting working with Children, including The Children Act and the Children and Families Act (2014)
  • A commitment to working with children to improve the quality of their lives
  • The ability to plan, manage, and prioritise a caseload
  • The ability to work effectively and flexibly as part of a team and a willingness to provide guidance and assistance to less experienced or more junior members of staff
  • Tenacious in driving change for families and children to realise their full potential
