This is an exciting opportunity to work within and help develop our Infectious Diseases service.

With easy access to coast, mountains and glens, Inverness in the Scottish Highlands is one of the fastest growing cities in Europe and offers an unrivalled quality of life with a huge range of leisure and sporting opportunities.

The service has recently taken on infection beds on one of the ground floor wards alongside acute medicine.

There is a long-term proposal for a 12 bedded infection unit within Raigmore hospital to take admissions from the north Highland health board area.

This will give capacity for management of patients with highly infectious diseases as well as managing general infection patients. This is a new post to help support the staffing of this facility.

The department has a successful OPAT service which provides this service to patients in the full geographical area of north highland.

There are close links with the orthopaedic service in the follow-up of patients both on OPAT and complex oral antibiotic regimens (COPAT).

There is a monthly Lyme MDT meeting to support the care of this complex patient group.

The post will involve ward rounds on the infection ward, ward referrals from other specialities, OPAT referrals and reviews. Outpatient clinic work will involve a general infection clinic and a monthly HIV clinic. There would also be scope for further involvement in the blood borne virus service including the viral hepatitis MDT.
