This is a collaborative team, working with colleagues and customers to create a better environment by protecting and enhancing diverse habitats and wildlife.
The you will have an excellent knowledge of freshwater fisheries ecology; experience of fisheries project management; and be able to demonstrate their ability to engage and influence a range of internal and external customers.
As part of the role, you will:
- Oversee technical fisheries advice into relevant Environment Agency programmes, plans and projects to ensure compliance with legislation as well as habitat creation.
- Oversee the provision of fisheries management advice to customers.
- Work with customers, partners, and internal colleagues, to identify opportunities to enhance fish passage and improve habitats.
- Work with Biodiversity and Geomorphology colleagues to identify and influence opportunities to deliver multiple benefits for the environment and to work with natural processes.
- Respond to environmental incidents.
- Provide technical support, leadership and mentoring to the wider fisheries team.
You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident.
This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

- You will join an experienced and supportive team of technical and enforcement fisheries officers who integrate fisheries expertise to deliver functional, corporate, and statutory duties. You will be working across the East Midlands Area with a mix of rural and urban areas, upland and lowland rivers, species, and habitats.

- Experience/skills required:
You will have a degree or experience in a relevant discipline and a full UK driving license.
You should also have:
- Skills and experience in leadership and mentoring.
- Excellent motivation and adaptability in delivering priorities.
- A history of collaborating with others to deliver shared priorities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence a broad range of stakeholders to build, develop, and nurture relationships.
- A strong understanding of fisheries legislation such as the Eel Regulations, Salmon and Fisheries Act, and the Water Framework Directive.
- Project management legislation, for example, Construction Design Management.
- Knowledge/experience of fisheries enforcement would be an advantage.

- This role is office/desk based but involves travel across the area and work in the field, as a result a full driving license is required.
