Job Description:
Are you passionate about helping to resolve the UK's energy challenges? If so, there's a great job waiting for you at AECOM.
You will work on our portfolio of major energy projects, including power generation with carbon capture, carbon capture pipelines, projects in the emerging hydrogen sector, large scale solar, and/ or power transmission and distribution projects (including international interconnectors).
You will have the opportunity to work on projects that are transforming our energy systems and helping the UK to deliver its net zero ambitions.
As an EIA Principal Consultant you'll provide environmental inputs across all project lifecycles, from early strategy development, through feasibility, optioneering/ option and site selection, outline design, to detailed design, discharging of consents, construction and scheme operation/ maintenance.
Your role will include:
- Managing and coordinating multidisciplinary environmental inputs across a range of energy projects, with a focus on the management of environmental assessments in support of gaining development consent
- Managing the preparation of EIA screening and scoping reports and Environmental Statements (and in the future Environmental Outcomes Reports), including the technical review of specialist chapters
- Liaising with clients and internal supply teams
- Working collaboratively with design teams to ensure environmental considerations are appropriately taken into account, as well as developing sustainable initiatives
- Working in partnership with other members of the wider business
- Managing resources, delegating activities, monitoring and managing project budgets (with support as applicable)
- Leading and supporting business opportunities and associated fee and technical proposal development
- Promoting AECOM's environmental services to both internal and external audiences.
Qualifications:
You'll have:
- Experience of providing consultancy services to the energy sector
- An excellent understanding of the EIA processes, environmental assessment methods and applicable planning legislation
- A detailed understanding of relevant consenting and licensing regimes
- Confidence when engaging with a wide variety of stakeholder groups
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of an established team, coordinating inputs from specialist technical teams
- Excellent verbal and report writing skills, including technical reviewing
- Project management skills, including programming, staff resource management and budget management
- A degree in a relevant environmental discipline and an appropriate professional membership
- Willingness to travel
