Salary:
£38,309.00
per annum**
37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year


As our Assistant Head - Automotive, Fabrication & Welding & Paint & Body,
you
will be responsible for supporting the Head of Institute in the leadership and management in Automotive, Fabrication & Welding & Paint & Body with a focus/specialism in Automotive.


The post holder will support leadership on cross-cutting themes such as student engagement, progress, assessment, and quality & may be expected to line manage and or coordinate the work of a team of staff within the department as required.

Responsibilities of our
Assistant Head - Automotive, Fabrication & Welding & Paint & Body:

  • Deliver teaching and learning, ensuring stretch, challenge and engagement of students of all ages and abilities including apprentices.
  • Plan, prepare and update all relevant teaching documentation including schemes of work, lesson plans and online learning materials, using Canvas.
  • Lead, coordinate and support course activities which will support the achievement of curriculum area targets. Accurately carry out the qualification completion process within the departmental systems in a timely manner
  • Take responsibility and facilitate academic tutorials for students.
  • Be involved in the marketing, promotion, recruitment and interviewing of students, including attending open events, enrolment events, amongst other activities.
  • Assess, monitor, and record feedback to students to facilitate their best achievement using the College's data systems and processes, working to exam board guidelines and quality systems.
  • Lead, coordinate and support IV/IQA processes within the curriculum area.
  • Contribute to the quality assurance processes and curriculum design within the area.
  • Attend meetings and communicate with colleagues within the curriculum area as and when required.
**What we are looking for as our
Assistant Head - Automotive, Fabrication & Welding & Paint & Body: - Experience of leading on cross-cutting themes such as student engagement, progress, assessment and IQA processes.

  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Significant experience of delivering good teaching and leading in further education.
  • Understanding of current developments and trends in further education.
