What you'll be doing

Reporting to the Key Account Manager for North America and 3rd Party Clients you will be responsible for maximising the sales and profitability of the Hachette UK Distributed list of titles to North America (this is the sale and distribution of HUK titles via HBG USA).

You will also manage relationships and maximise sales for some of our 3rd party clients.

In addition, you will support the Key Account Manager with their management of Hachette Book Group US Imports (this is the sale of HBG USA titles via HUK).


Key tasks:


US Distribution:


  • Manage the scheduling and sell in of HUK distributed titles to HBGUSA
  • Ensure metadata and materials are supplied to HBG according to deadlines
  • Build and manage relationship with HBG client services working with them to achieve sell in timelines and manage processes
  • Manage print confirm and key title forecasts
  • Monitor and analyse sales and feed back to key stakeholders

3rd Party Clients:


  • Develop and manage relationships with the agreed publishers
  • Manage the sales of the lists from early title forecasts, feedback on scheduling, prices and pub dates, input re inventory and monitoring of sales to key territories
  • Presenting and selling new titles on a regular basis
  • Dealing with general queries and information requests

Not all tasks will be required within every division, as operating processes may vary.

Who we are looking for

We're looking for a calm, confident team player who has excellent communication and organisational skills, attention to detail, an ability to multi-task and prioritise, and an enthusiasm for working in a fast-moving commercial environment.

Ideally you will enjoy working with data from collating title metadata to analysing sales data.

We need someone who is self-motivated, committed, loves books and can talk about them with conviction and passion whether it's fiction or non-fiction.

Some sales experience is required as well as knowledge of the publishing industry.


You'll need to be proficient with Microsoft Office (especially Excel), comfortable working with numbers and ideally have some experience with Biblio.
