This role is part of the Retail and Group HR leadership team and therefore has a great opportunity to not only lead the People strategy for the Retail business but also help shape and input into the wider Group People strategy for Thames Water.

This role would suit an experienced Head of HR who is looking to develop their career with a business during a significant long term transformation and within a role that will help to provide a great platform for your career.


What you will be doing?
The People Function is a key enabler of the Thames Water turnaround plan.

Over the next two years we are focusing on three main areas; improving engagement and leadership capability, implementing skills strategy and assure technical competence and rejuvenating our ways of working.

The
Head of HR for Retail is a critical role within the People Function. Reporting into the HR Director for Retail and Group Functions, it supports the Retail Leadership Team leading 1300 employees.

Retail is our key customer facing part of the organisation, incorporating our customers services, financial care and billing team who are responsible for collecting the £2.2bn of annual revenue as well as our wholesale services organisation who are responsible for our developer services and metering operations.


With support from a small business partnering team and the centres of expertise, you will be responsible for driving the people agenda across Retail including but not limited to strategic resourcing, employee engagement, talent development and organisation design and development.

This is a true generalist role requiring strong strategic and operational partnering skills.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the design, development and delivery of the people agenda for Retail through the implementation of a defined people strategy and plan, which supports the delivery of the overall business plan.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders. Act as a sounding board, coach and confidante on key matters for the executive and their leadership teams and offer visible behavioural leadership to the organisation.
  • Support the design and lead the implementation of any organisational design activity that is required, working with the executive.

What you will bring to the role?
We are looking for someone with the following skill set and behaviours:

  • Demonstrable experience of partnering with and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Track record of proactive and pragmatic HR delivery
  • Able to understand business challenges and translate these into strategic people plans
  • Experience of a customerfacing and/or senior functional client group
  • Able to manage multiple workstreams
  • Strong leadership and coaching
