Description
The role involves a high proportion of admin tasks including ordering of specialist patient equipment, monitoring of the equipment database, ordering of department stock, supporting the department on collection of patient feedback and audits.
You will also have the opportunity to support the team clinically, working alongside staff in patient appointments, this could include the setting up or adjusting of equipment, working within special schools, supporting hydrotherapy sessions / group classes.
You will be supported in developing the knowledge and skills you require in your role and will be offered regular supervision.
You will are required to have an enhanced DBS disclosure and have the ability to travel across sites and into the community.
Clerical duties will include general administration, processing correspondence and inquiries, photocopying, filing, typing, booking appointments, ordering of specialist equipment etc.
You will work under the guidance and direction of registered staff, and therapy assistants to support treatment delivery, setting up and monitoring of specialist equipment for children and young people with a variety of medical conditions and/or disabilities.
The Clinical Support Worker may also joint work with a Band 3 Physiotherapy Therapy Technician under the direction of more senior staff.
The role will involve working alongside other staff, in clinical outpatient settings, Childrens' centres, patients' home, nurseries, schools, special schools, and other community settings, as well as office based work.
This post would not necessitate lone working in any community settings.
The Paediatric Physiotherapy Service at East Lancashire NHS Trust aims to deliver care that is patient centred, goal orientated, delivered around clinical pathways; ensuring effectiveness and efficiency to maximise independence and support effective management of long-term conditions.
Assist therapy staff to increase patient's independence by for example providing specialist equipment.
Assist therapy staff with community activities including home visits as required.
Give verbal feedback about the progress of patient's treatment programme.
Clearly document actions when instructed in the patient's case notes as outlined in professional standards and organisational policy and procedures.
Undertake general clerical duties i.e. photocopying, filing, typing, appointments, ordering of specialist equipment etc.
Produce high quality templates, tables, letter and reports.
Use Microsoft Outlook to manage work related communication.
Use good customer care skills in your interactions with the public, professionals and other agencies.
Collate, record and forward statistical information for own team.
Monitor stock levels and procure items for the department such as stationery, equipment, etc, as required.
Input into computerised patient records as delegated.
Arrange appointments for Physiotherapy staff.
Maintain treatment areas and equipment used to an appropriate standard in accordance with health and safety, infection control and other relevant guidance.
Assist with the day to day running of the department.
Is a member of the team and shares information as required.
