    finden advisory is supporting a long standing financial services business in Manchester to hire a Commercial Finance Director and they need someone who wants to build, shape and lead that investment agenda.

    Shape decisions that materially change the business

    The capital deployment and investment framework is evolving. You will be the one designing the models, processes, dashboards, governance and investment discipline.

    You will operate side-by-side with a commercially minded CFO who values challenge, transparency and autonomy.

    Variety you rarely see in one job

    One week you'll shape an acquisition case; the next, build a valuation model; the next, assess tech investment; and the next, drive commercial insight across revenue, productivity or adviser performance.

    What you'll lead

    M&A
    Own financial due diligence and valuation modelling
    Build robust investment cases for acquisitions, stakes, and internal capital expenditure
    Prepare compelling submissions for senior stakeholders and the parent organisation

    Capital Deployment
    Develop and embed the capital deployment framework
    Track ROI and performance of deployed capital
    Support the Investment Committee with high-quality analysis and MI

    Commercial Finance
    Provide challenge and insight across revenue, margin, productivity and performance
    Strengthen commercial discipline throughout the organisation
    Build models, dashboards and decision-support tools from scratch

    Executive Partnership
    Work closely with the CFO on major commercial, investment and strategic decisions
    Engage confidently with senior leaders and external stakeholders
    Influence the direction and pace of the group's growth plans

    Depending on final structure, this role may also have line management responsibility for a small business partnering team.

    Who we're looking for
    You may come from commercial finance, FP&A leadership, corporate development, transaction services, or a hybrid of these. What matters most is your ability to combine technical rigour with commercial judgement.


    You will bring:
    Strong financial modelling capability (DCF, valuation, deal modelling, sensitivities)
    Experience supporting or leading M&A due diligence or major business cases
    A track record of delivering high-quality insight to senior leadership
    Confidence to challenge and influence at pace
    A builder's mindset, able to create frameworks, processes and MI from scratch
    Clear, concise communication skills
    Curiosity, independence and integrity

    Experience in financial services is helpful but not essential.

    Location & Working Pattern

    Hybrid, with regular time in the North West office to work effectively with the CFO and the wider finance and commercial teams.

    Broader flexibility is available depending on final team shape.
