Project Planner

Initial 12 month contract

Stockport

Hybrid working

Main Purpose:


To support the Project Controls function which encompasses the resources, procedures, and tools for the planning, monitoring, reporting and controlling of all stages of the capital project lifecycle or/and stage gate process.

Support and advise on the definition of project controls, procedures and the standards required to deliver projects.

Specifically, to deliver the scheduling controls elements at each stage of the project from scoping through to execution by:

  • Preparing a basis of schedule
  • Ensuring that all project schedules are developed and maintained in a timely fashion and that reports are issued in accordance with preestablished timelines.
  • Ensuring that performance against schedule is accurately monitored, with any variance against budget being identified and where necessary that corrective action is recommended and implemented.
  • Playing a key role in driving the team to deliver projects on schedule
  • Holistic resource planning and levelling
  • Continually assessing the management processes/procedures associated with, and the software utilized in, your everyday works with a view to recommending improvements to increase CBS's knowledge and expertise, thereby enhancing CBS's position in the wider market place.

Key Accountabilities:


  • To prepare and manage schedules in the appropriate level of detail for all CBS projects as required across the Stages. Schedules to be produced at all levels of the planning hierarchy from 1 through 4 and controlled accordingly depending on the stakeholders.
  • Schedules to be developed and managed utilising Primavera Cloud and to be structured based on the project requirements and the applicable WBS in place for that project.
  • Schedules to include full project milestones information and have easily identifiable critical path and project float
  • To offer challenge to all tasks in the schedule to ensure accuracy of durations, logic, relationships, interfaces, criticality and float
  • Baseline schedules to be fixed for each project as the basis for comparison of current status
  • Preparation of project specific progress measurement methods so that schedules can be updated on a regular basis to reflect current status
  • To ensure that all contractors provide schedules for their work scope in the appropriate level of detail to suit the project and to integrate this with the CBS overall schedule. To be able to critique contractor baseline and updated schedules and challenge at outset and at monthly progress meetings
  • To prepare clear and precise progress reports for issue to the project teams including full schedules, S Curves, lookahead schedules, efficiency reports, etc.
  • To proactively drive adherence to the schedule and identify deviations from the baseline position suggesting appropriate corrective actions to ensure timely project completion
  • Determine manpower, equipment and raw materials needed to cover production demand
  • Assign workers and other staff to particular production operations
  • Schedule shift according to production needs
  • Optimizing project strategies to enable better outcomes in the future

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Business management: An experienced business leader able to operate independently across functions to deliver overall business results.

  • Proven experience as a production planner
  • Experience in MRP II (Manufacturing Resource Planning)
  • Previous experience on large EPC Contracts

Commercial: Strong commercial acumen both financially and contractually including:

  • Strong understanding of the financial drivers for customers and for CBS.
  • Relevant degree level qualification
  • Experience of using Primavera Cloud or P6 equivalent
  • Relevant Project Management qualification/chartership including APM PMP or equivalent
  • Understanding of Quantitative Risk Analysis

Location:

This is a hybrid working role, with a requirement to work from the clients Stockport office at least once a week

Standard working hours with some flex where required
