What do you think a Support Worker really does?
A Support Worker is someone who looks after the well-being of people in their daily lives.

They may help people living with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and mental health needs to live their lives more independently.

A Support Worker does just that, whilst encouraging people to reach their potential by providing both physical and emotional support.

The role of a support worker is so varied - each person has unique activities, hobbies and routines - which makes the job unique too.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Support Worker to join our small and friendly team in Ystradgynlais.

In this rewarding and pivotal role you will be assisting & encouraging people in supported living to become integrated members of their local community, promoting physical and social participation.


So, you could be going to a coffee morning, a walk down the coast, a GP appointment, as well as help to take part in a wide range of special interests and activities that support their health and wellbeing such as; arts and crafts, watching the footie, drama, musical evenings, gardening, shopping trips and social occasions.

As a general guide, duties may include some support with personal care needs, and full training and support would be provided.

Please note:

Due to the nature of the service and requirements of the individuals we support, holding a full UK driving licence
is mandatory.



What will you be doing?

  • You will develop, implement, and review a range of individual support plans to enable the person that you will support to lead a fulfilling life.
  • You will provide support with a range of tasks which may include household and domestic tasks, shopping, diet/food preparation, personal care, personal hygiene, dressing and personal appearance.
  • We will invest in you as you study towards your QCF Level 2 Health and Social Care, funded by mirus
  • Talking, listening & learning more about the people we support and treating the people you support and the people you work with, with care and compassion.
  • You will work alongside other professionals such as care managers, community nurses and occupational therapists to deliver high quality support.

Being a Support Worker takes bravery, patience, and commitment (a sense of humour helps too).

You may never have worked in care before, and that is fine You may have a relative that you support, a friend, or you may just want to make a difference to someone else.
