Job Purpose:

The key purpose of this role to ensure team effectiveness and productivity in order to achieve sprint goals.

This role liaises with all squad members across business and digital delivery to ensure that everyone understands and performs their role effectively.

As strong facilitators, Scrum Masters act as coaches, support the team to understand, adopt and achieve maturity on agile methodology.

The Scrum Master is responsible for being a servant leader to the scrum team.

They will remove roadblocks, lead scrum ceremonies, report agile metrics, and ensure the team is delivering working systems as planned.

They will collaborate with other teams to achieve the best possible results.


Scrum masters are committed to the scrum foundation and values but flexible and open to opportunities for the team to improve their workflow.

Scrum master encourages and supports the squad to achieve continuous improvement, foster culture of collaboration & knowledge sharing and adopting agile mindset.

The scrum master will participate or lead Scrum community of practice to ensure cross squad collaboration, continuous improvement and foster culture of learning.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Maintains ownership over scrum process and ensures that everyone within squad e.g product owner, development team members, delivery leads etc. understands and performs their role effectively to achieve sprint goals through value driven iterative delivery.
  • Holds the scrum team accountable to the defined and agreed sprint goals
  • Holds the scrum team accountable to their working agreements, scrum values, and to the scrum framework itself.
  • Owns, manages and facilitates the scrum cadence and ceremonies that are positive, productive and timely
  • Tracks the effectiveness of the team and scrum process through KPIs such as velocity, burn up/ burn down chart, backlog health etc.
  • Provide monthly update on the KPIs, continuous improvement and impediments to the leadership team.
  • In collaboration with Senior Engineering Manager/ Technical Lead/ Program manager, makes recommendation on Team's operating model and crossdiscipline team structure.
  • Works with product owners to ensure that the backlog is refined and prioritized before starting the sprint in order to achieve 'potentially' shippable product at the end of the sprint that delivers value to the business.
  • Displays an engineering mindset and systems thinking while understanding the economic view.
  • Supports estimating activities guides team in establishing normalized estimating
  • Assists the team removing impediments to ensure team productivity
  • Establishes a culture of continuous improvement and continuous learning by leveraging sprint ceremonies such as retrospective to help the squad identify and implement improvements for the future sprints
  • Protects the team from external interruptions and distractions
  • Supports the squad with coaching where needed in order to achieve higher level of maturity on agile methodology adoption.
  • Influencing scrum teams to be selforganized/selfmanaged

Qualifications:


  • 3+ years of working experience as a scrum master within a Digital product delivery team, with methods such as Scrum, Lean, Kanban or SAFe
  • Strong understanding of Software development life cycle using Agile DevOps methodology.
  • Strong working knowledge of tools such as ADO, Jira, Confluence, Murals, O365 collaboration tool Etc.
  • Ability to set up sprint boards and create dashboard to track KPIs.
  • An active Scrum Certification
  • CSM, A-CSM, PSM I or PSM II.

Technical skills:


  • Awareness of software development life cycle using Agile devops methodology
  • Awareness of testing approaches
  • Experience with endtoend acceptance testing.
  • Awareness of continuous integration/ continuous delivery
  • Awareness of cloud platform
  • Azure or AWS

Non-technical skills

  • Ability to solve complex problem and drive solution.
  • Ability to communicate and influence effectively at all leve
