Gain a PhD while earning ca. £45K/yr and being trained in environmental consultancy
Air Quality Consultants Ltd.

has teamed up with the University of Bristol, the Technical University of Madrid (UPM), and other partners across Europe to offer a fully funded opportunity to develop new solutions to urban air quality.

The research will examine the impact of urban design on air quality and will seek to deliver practical tools and guidance for use by urban designers and air quality professionals.

It will use air quality measurements collected from sites across the UK, alongside wind tunnel measurements made in Bristol.

The researcher will be part of a network of students working in the Marie-Curie 'MODELAIR' programme, which involves collaboration with multiple institutions across Europe.

They will benefit from formal training as part of the MODELAIR programme and have opportunities to interact regularly and collaborate with researchers from the various partner organisations across Europe.

They will also benefit from 2-month placement at UPM in Madrid.

They will be supported and supervised by experts from both Air Quality Consultants and the University of Bristol.

The researcher will be paid ca.

£45,000 per year (gross), which is allocated in a grant provided by UK Research and Innovation, for a duration of 3 years.

The PhD will be awarded by the University of Bristol.

The start date will be summer 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Requirements:

Applicants must hold/achieve a minimum of a master's degree (or international equivalent) in a mathematics or engineering discipline. Applicants without a master's qualification may be considered on an exceptional basis, provided they hold a first-class undergraduate degree. Fluent written and spoken English is required.
