This exciting opportunity requires an enthusiastic, creative and self-motivated person to provide administrative support to teams within the Governance department at Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust.

You will need to be self-driven with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

You will take pride in your work, be highly motivated, professional, and have good organisational skills with an excellent attention to detail.


This is a busy role with a varied workload as we need to respond to changing deadlines so you must be adaptable, have a flexible approach and have the ability to interact with all departments and posts at all levels within the organisation.

You must be a team player yet be able to work on your own initiative.


You will be responsible for coordinating and administering relevant committees and processes within set timescales, using appropriate software packages and risk management systems such as Datix.

You will support our governance systems and provide general administrative support to our team.

A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages is essential as is having a high standard of accuracy and presentation.

Provide administrative and secretarial support using appropriate software packages and risk management systems within set timescales and to a high standard of accuracy and presentation.

Manage diaries and electronic schedules, arranging appointments and prioritising competing needs

Typing/composing documents - letters, meeting notes, reports

Data input into systems

Develop and maintain effective and efficient office systems including bring forward, central and individual filing systems.

To work as part of the Governance administration team; provide cover for other Band 3 posts during absences to ensure that efficient processes are maintained

Ensure that daily tasks and ongoing workloads are completed within agreed time frames as agreed with line manager


To organise meetings as requested and provide administration support for these meetings such as room bookings, the preparation and distribution of papers.

To support the implementation of key governance policies.

To prepare monitoring data for key monthly and quarterly reports as requested.

To take minutes / notes at meetings, as requested by line manager and prepare draft minutes/ meeting notes with seven working days for approval by the Chairs
