Summary of Role
37.5 hours - expected to be Monday - Friday with occasional weekend for holiday cover


Qualifications / Training

  • Carry out facilities related duties in accordance with defined hygiene standards set by the Hospice.
This would include daily and weekly scheduled and reactive cleaning of all patient areas, meeting rooms, utility areas, office accommodation, corridors etc


  • Provide staff with fresh clean linen on a day to day basis. Use trolleys to enable supplies of linen to be available for nursing staff in ward areas.
  • Maintain linen stocks and liaise with the facilities supervisor regarding any ordering of new linen and provisions for the service.
  • Cleaning of external and internal glazing including inside glass partitions and patient bedroom windows.
  • Periodical shampooing of carpets and spot shampooing using appropriate equipment.
  • Changing window curtains and partition curtains as required
  • Display a positive approach to service users, staff and visitors to ensure an excellent customer service experience.
  • Using effective infection control procedures, remove dirty linen. Eg. Hand towels and bedding etc. Sort, separate, wash, dry and iron all linen.
  • Ensure high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are practiced in all areas at all times
  • Report any defective or hazardous items / equipment to the facilities supervisor or Facilities manager in their absence.
  • Be-aware of the role of volunteers in the Hospice and the constraints on their
role.


  • Deputise in the absence of the facilities supervisor when required.
  • Complete documentation confirming all standards of cleaning and areas have
been carried out


  • Carry out any other reasonable request to strengthen the facilities team position within the Hospice.
