A Team Leader is needed to deliver an excellent Housing Solutions Service designed around customer requirements, and within the context of the principles set out by the client for developing a stronger, safer, healthier, and sustainable Borough
Key responsibilities:


  • Supervise the delivery of the core landlord solutions, including the following key tasks.
  • Supervision of the private sector landlord early intervention initiative to prevent homelessness.
  • Supervision of temporary accommodation turnarounds, placements and rent accounts.
  • Establish operational links with private sector landlords and lettings agencies to provide suitable properties.
  • Provide statistical data in relation to prevention and temporary accommodation.
  • Supervise the delivery of the core housing solutions.
  • Supervision of statutory obligations under the Housing Act 1996, Part VII (Homelessness) and Homeless Reduction Act 2017 including an oversight of determinations.
  • Supervision of temporary accommodation placements, in term of suitability of placements, risk assessments and rent accounts.
  • Provide statistical data in relation to Prevention, Relief and Homelessness.
  • Administer and supervise the daytoday delivery of the Homeless Reduction Act 2017, in its Prevention, Relief and Homeless duties within available resources.
  • Enable and ensure the teams accurate assessments of customer's needs, the outcome of which is effectively communicated to them and is laid out in a Personal Housing and Wellbeing plan.
  • Ensure customers are encouraged to take all necessary steps to prevent homelessness occurring where possible.
  • Work with the Housing Solutions Manager and Housing Solutions Officers to increase housing options and solutions for customers who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
  • Work in partnership with the Landlord Liaison Officer, landlords and agents in setting up tenancy agreements and arranging rent in advance or deposit via prevention schemes.
  • Work with, and act on behalf of the Housing Solutions Manager in an enhanced partnership way across the public sector, the voluntary sector, the community sector and with landlords to offer housing solutions and the most relevant support for the customer.

  • Grade A-C English/Maths or equivalent.
  • Willing to work towards or hold appropriate housing qualification or equivalent at Level
  • Extensive working knowledge of Parts VI & VII of the Housing Acts 1985 & 1996, & Housing Act 2002 as they relate to Homelessness and the Homeless Reduction Act 201
  • Must have knowledge of Health and Safety issues and how Health and Safety impacts in the workplace.

Experience:


  • Have previous supervisory experience including conducting and administration of 121's with staff.
  • Have experience of working in a housing related environment, providing service to customers.
  • Must have experience of establishing networks and links with internal and external agencies to gain housing solutions.
  • Recent and Relevant experience of dealing directly with members of the public and understanding customer care issues.

Skills/Technical skills:

  • Must be able to demonstrate team building skills, coordinating a diverse range of people positively working for service goals.
  • Ability to supervise and motivate a team to meet agreed targets and achieve both short
- and medium-term goals, be innovative and creative and able to demand result and high performance from others.

  • Ability to effectively control the job by forward planning organising work activities and resources and recognising cost implications for decisions taken.
  • Capability to manage a range of complex issues, prioritising and completing work to meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to demonstrate effective project management skills where resources, risk and project management tools have been used effectively.
  • Willingness to make judgements, decisions and to accept responsibility.
  • Must display an open mind and be able to challenge existing ideas to create new approaches and solutions.
  • Selfdisciplined and motivated.
