Main Purpose:


The main purpose of this role is to provide testing for the development of IT processes and systems, ensuring Canopius' operational stability, regulatory requirements, and a positive user experience.

Testing as a function will include functional testing, user acceptance testing, regression, integration testing, end to end testing and performance testing.

The IT QA Test Lead will also be responsible for managing a team of IT QA Testers.

This is a Manchester based position.


Main Responsibilities:


  • To write and implement test plans
  • To write and review test scripts
  • Carry out testing and logging, tracking of bugs/defects, and retesting to confirm, corrections and system/process is working as designed
  • Working within the Agile methodology using Kanban and Scrum to work within organised IT teams
  • Functional testing to ensure specifications of the software component under test
  • Regression testing to rerun functional and nonfunctional tests to ensure that previously developed and tested software still performs after a change. If not, that would be called a regression.
  • User acceptance testing (UAT) to agree golive and rollout. During UAT, tester would be required to act as the end user to validate changes are performing according to the required reallife scenarios
  • Business engagement (Liaising with Dev Team, BA/s, Business)
  • Security testing to reveal flaws in the security mechanisms of an information system protecting data and maintain functionality as intended
  • Leadership and development of the QA & Test team functions and FTEs
  • Coaching and providing specialist advice where teams / FTEs are failing to meet quality standard
  • Produce dashboards and reports on progress and effectiveness of testing and quality

Skills and Experience:


  • Experience of working in an agile environment
  • Good communication both written and verbal
  • Proactive in recommending and contributing to team discussions
  • Working both within a team and independently
  • Experience of working within a scrum
  • Extensive experience of Agile working, toolset and implementing agile testing on projects
  • Deep technical understanding of testing, quality assurance and release management gained through experience of leading a test and quality team on a large programme
  • Extensive experience in resource and workload management
  • Experience in budget control
  • Industry awareness to identify improvement opportunities and implement them across the services and processes incorporated within the domain
