Location:

Pay scale:
Grade 2, SCP 3-4, £7,500 - £7,636 per annum (full time salary £20,812 - £21,189 per annum)

Hours: 16 hours per week, Monday - Friday, starting at 8.30am (flexibility to occasionally work extra hours when necessary for the school)

Job Details
The Orchards School is a friendly and vibrant school of approximately 250 pupils aged between 3 and 9 years.

Together, the school team aims to provide a happy, stimulating and supportive climate in order for our children to achieve their maximum potential.

We are seeking to appoint a friendly and professional Receptionist and Admin Assistant.

Being front of house, ensuring all visitors and phone calls are dealt with alongside carrying out general admin duties with a daily focus on attendance.

Flexibility is needed to be able to work extra hours for the school during busy periods.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Support with the appropriate administration of internal and external customers (e.g. staff, parents and contractors), ensuring appropriate cover is arranged for overflow calls, reception/telephone console or pupil reception at all times of the day.
  • Work with others to develop and continually improve the services provided by the administration team.
  • Be part of the organisation of events such as presentation evenings, parents' evenings, festive concerts, productions, school trips and external conferences.
  • Respond to queries and complaints in line with the school's policies.
  • Undertake reception duties and face to face enquires and signing in visitors.
  • Use the school's MIS, to maintain and update pupil records
  • Record and maintain attendance, reporting required information to SLT
  • Assist the Headteacher with any other administrative tasks as and when required.
  • Follow online and paper filing systems in line with the Data Protection Policy and Records Management Policy.
  • Collate information to support the completion of complex forms, returns etc., including those to outside agencies e.g. DfE
  • Complete first day calling
  • Assist with pupils first aid/ welfare duties, looking after sick pupils and liaising with parents and staff
  • Collect and record monies received e.g. school trips, receipts
  • Produce lists/information as required
  • Undertake word processing and any other IT based tasks
  • Process order and invoices when required
  • Maintain stationary stock and supplies. Cataloguing and distributing as required

  • Maintain the confidential nature of information relating to the school, its pupils and parents, acting in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 at all times.
  • Contribute to and support the overall work, aims and ethos of the school.
  • Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required.
  • Participate and engage in training and appraisal as required.
  • Undertake additional duties as reasonable requested by senior staff.
