Are you passionate about customer service and looking for a role where you get to engage with people from all walks of life and no two days are the same? If so, I may have the perfect role for you.

We are looking for a Customer Intelligence Field Officer to be the eyes and ears of the West Midlands Combined Authority, acting as a customer champion and providing data and research to ensure that we are doing things right.

You will need to be a personable and engaging individual who enjoys working outdoors and wants to learn more about the region and the transport network.

Whether you are undertaking data collection, conducting surveys, monitoring transport, interviewing people, assisting passengers, or delivering leaflets, you will be contributing to improving the public perception across the West Midlands region.

We are looking for people from all backgrounds and all ages as full training will be provided; all we ask is that you enjoy speaking with the general public and have some customer service experience.

In return, we will offer you flexible working hours, autonomy and a travel pass to access the West Midlands Network.

You must be able to provide a minimum of 4 days availability each week, including 1 weekend day each week, and be able to work between 6:00 am - midnight. (Shift times may differ). We will guarantee 25 working hours a month, though more may be available, paying an hourly rate of £12.83.

What you will be doing

  • Carry out data collection and market research surveys using designated equipment across the West Midlands County area and neighbouring shires
  • Monitor, record and report any issues of concern with the state of facilities/assets or unsafe actions of bus drivers, contractors or customers
  • Represent the West Midlands Combined Authority as a 'Customer Champion' responding to public enquiries and reporting incidents of antisocial behaviour
  • Deliver a smart, friendly, positive, visible presence on the network, at a range of locations to include bus stations, travel centres at transport stops and other services
  • Undertake compliant cash handling and associated reconciliation duties

About you

  • Experience of dealing with the public in a customer facing role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent timekeeping
  • Resilient character
  • High attention to detail
  • Proficient using a mobile device
