Job Introduction
We are looking for a Finance Cost Controller to work on HS2 Main Works. You will be responsible for supporting the Finance Director. The focus will be to manage the interface with HS2 "Power of Six" Cost Verification Audit (CVA) Team.

To engage with the SCS Internal Audit team to ensure lessons are learnt and adopted across the SCS Project and co-ordinating with the 3 JV partners.

The role reports directly to the Finance Director.

Main Responsibilities

Accountabilities

  • Own the relationship with the HS2 CVA Team and audits of SOCC and Subcontract costs
  • Timely response to Audit requests for information (RFIs)
  • Timely follow up and resolution of audit report findings
  • Coordinate Finance and Commercial teams to respond to Audit queries
  • Recommend improvements to Financial control, Governance, segregation of duties & process flows to comply with Works Information and partner requirements
  • Work with Delivery Unit and Asset teams to ensure lessons are learnt and implemented from CVA and Internal Audit findings
  • Proactively looking for areas to improve or reduce cost
  • Assist Delivery units and functions to implement the recommendations above
  • Own cost relationship with partners

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Monthly Disallowed Cost Report and Audit progress report
  • Fee Based Cost reporting and follow up with Delivery Units
  • Improve forecasting of Fee based costs
  • Develop KPI for defined cost audit performance
  • Ongoing issues with JV Board partners, reporting on progress and current issues.
Essential

  • 5 years PQE Accountant with a recognised professional body (eg ICAEW, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Relevant experience in a project based finance team within the construction, infrastructure or similar industry
  • Strong experience of NEC Contracts,
  • Knowledge of Defined cost, SOCC, disallowed cost and fee based cost definitions
  • Strong Excel, IT & Communication Skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Takes ownership of output
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • Selfconfident
  • Strong influencing skills
Desirable

  • Previous experience ideally in a similar role within the construction industry delivering a large infrastructure project
  • Knowledge of Oracle E1 accounting system
  • Prior experience of working in a joint venture

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract.

Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
