The Role


Responsible for internal delivery and stakeholder management of the UK wide apprenticeship scheme, including the implementation and delivery of new apprenticeship initiatives.

This individual will be the main contact for apprentice managers for issues management and very influential in ensuring that AZ apprenticeship programmes are supported by the business to a high standard of implementation, delivery, quality, and compliance.


  • Work with business stakeholders to ensure that existing programmes are delivered to a high standard and the performance levels of our apprentices, line managers, mentors and buddies are high.
  • Support business stakeholders to manage the implementation of new apprenticeships, supporting and advising line managers on workplace activities, apprenticeship obligations and regulations, processes, performance management etc
  • Identify and develop solutions for additional training needs (outside of the apprenticeship) to support line manager and apprentice development, meeting the needs of the business to fulfil future training and skills gaps.
  • Develop and use internal and external communication channels to build best practice within both apprentice and line manager communities.
  • Lead the onboarding/induction process for all new apprentices across the UK into the organisation, in collaboration with the Early Talent Acquisition Team and the business as required.
  • Contribute to, and support, the Early Talent Apprenticeship strategy by highlighting identified talent needs and working closely with the UK Apprentice Lead/UK Apprenticeship Vendor Partner/Stakeholders to ensure these needs are captured and consolidated
  • Acts as an internal expert for the business on apprenticeships and apprenticeship standards.
  • Provides central point of contact for escalation of queries from apprentices.
  • Manages the End Point Assessment (EPA)process for all business areas/apprenticeships:
  • Supports line managers to prepare for EPA process, ensuring full understanding of their role in the process, ensuring assessments/re-takes are scheduled.
  • Ensure registration of Registered Assessors is up to date and current.
  • Ensure EPA Handbook is kept uptodate.
  • Lead planning and execution of promotional external branding activities to promote Apprenticeship opportunities across the UK in conjunction with the Early Talent Acquisition team.
  • Research and review external reputation and recognition opportunities to raise AstraZeneca's brand awareness and secure AstraZeneca as Employer of Choice for Early Careers.
  • Leads other apprentice events and activities as required.
  • Works with the wider Early Careers team to support other events and initiatives as required.

Skills & Experience

  • Project Management experience
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent communications experience (written & verbal)
  • Good stakeholder management & influencing skills at all levels of the organisation, from the most junior to the most senior, as well as externally.
  • Ability to work independently & under pressure.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
  • Excellent team player.
  • Ability to undertake a limited amount of UK travel.
  • An understanding of apprenticeships and the skills landscape in the UK is preferred
