Job summary:

DCMS communications is looking for an insight and evaluation officer to join the strategic communications team.

Our team is responsible for planning and insight and evaluation, as well as looking after strategies for comms priorities and making sure we implement them with audiences and results in mind.

You will play a critical role in the Directorate; directing and commissioning research, and ensuring that resulting insight is applied to strategic direction, innovation and measuring our success.

Job description:

Your responsibilities will include:

-
Develop research briefs for commissioned communication research on priorities. You will manage the development and delivery of work by qualitative and quantitative research agencies. You will scope, design and commission research against agreed objectives for DCMS and SoS communication priorities, liaising with the agency and wider communications team. You will ensure our research garners the right insight to support the team and deliver against objectives.
-
Translate insight from research and embed them in strategies and tactical comms. You will confidently share insight from commissioned research and desk research with the wider comms team, making sure it is embedded in our plans and strategies. You'll also help us to unearth interesting insights that could be the basis of new content, campaigns, digital work or for news stories.
-
Undertake measurement, evaluation and reporting to track progress, highlight good work and grow innovation. You will create and deliver regular reporting to track our performance against key objectives and KPIs. You will develop measures and KPIs for key priorities, and maintain reporting dashboards and a weekly highlights report. You will also support ad hoc evaluation of announcements and milestones working with input from the wider comms team.
-
Innovate and integrate. You will work with our digital team to use social media monitoring / listening tools to build audience insight. You will work with colleagues to integrate data across all sources so we have a whole picture. You'll advise colleagues on the performance of different communications channels for target audiences and keep on top of new channels emerging. You'll use data to advise on how DCMS communication can continue to innovate in how it communicates to deliver messages in the right way, at the right time and using the right channels.
